TJ Mora dry stone waller

TJ Mora

TJ Mora, Vice President

After years of marginally fulfilling work in the world of sports retail, TJ allowed himself to follow his heart…and it led him to stone. He found that it gives him something beautiful and enduring to show for a hard day’s work.

TJ has done several workshops and his DSWA testing through the Stone Trust and decided to give back by taking a spot on the board. He has earned his Level II DSWA certification, and is a DSWA Certified Instructor and has plans to make time in the future to achieve his Level III.

Jared Flynn Dry stone waller

Jared Flynn

Jared Flynn, Board Member

Jared grew up in southern Vermont and has always felt at home with the natural landscape.  Jared’s outdoor lifestyle inspired his interest in horticulture, which paved the way to a career in walling in the mid-1990s.  Like most wallers, Jared started by teaching himself and learning from others by working alongside them.  He started his own business in 2000 doing residential work primarily in southeastern Vermont.  After taking a workshop with Dan Snow in 2003, Jared became interested in craftsman certification from the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA) and earned his Intermediate Certificate in 2005.

Jared attained his DSWA Advanced Certificate in 2009 and is working toward the level of Master Craftsman.  While continuing to run his walling business, he has also instructs stone wall students in workshop and classroom settings, including courses at the Windham County Career Center.  Jared’s interest in education and the development of professional standards has opened conversations about statutes with the Windham Regional Planning Commission, Vermont state legislators, the Vermont Scenic Byways Council, and local communities.

He is committed to historic preservation of the stone walls and walling traditions of his native state.  To that end, he creates workshops focused on rebuilding historic walls and is working toward developing an inventory of Vermont’s historic roadside walls.  Jared lives in Dummerston, Vermont.

Kim Coggin

Kim Coggin, Board Member

Kim has been building dry stone walls and structures since 2008. Kim’s journey in stone started shortly after relocating to Pennsylvania from the Southeast, when she became enamored with the numerous covered bridges, stone walls, furnaces, and other historical artifacts in Pennsylvania.

Kim currently holds a Level Two Certificate from the DSWA, and is also a Certified Instructor.  Kim is also an avid faux artist and muralist.  This training gives Kim a unique and profound perspective on the artistic aspects inherent in dry stone creations.
