On Saturday May 20, at 7pm, Sally Hodgson will be giving the key note presentation at our Evening of Dry Stone Event. The presentation is titled “The Adventures of a Dry Stone Waller” – looking at walls and stone structures around the world, including the scholarship she received from the Winston Churchill Trust. Sally’s talk will be fully illustrated and is both humorous and enthusiastic!
Sally is one of only 3 women ever to have attained Master Craftswomen (Level 4) Certification. She is the only certified Master Craftswomen still active in walling, and the only women ever to be come a Dry Stone Walling Examiner. Sally currently runs a dry stone walling training facility in England with several other wallers, and is also a farmer in Derbyshire England. She is a fantastic person to learn from and be around and brings much to world of walling.
Sally has traveled the world from Australia to Canada and the Arctic, but this is her first trip to the United States, and we thrilled to have her coming to The Stone Trust! This a rare opportunity to see Sally’s work and hear about her walls and adventures.
The presentation is free and open to the public (though donations are greatly appreciated). Light refreshments will be served. Dry stone walling books and more will be available for sale. Come early for a stroll through the beautiful grounds of the Scott Farm and The Stone Trust Center.
The presentation will be in the Event Room at Scott Farm, 707 Kipling Rd, Dummerston, VT 05301. Once your at the farm, just follow the signs.
