Consider joining the Stone Trust Board of Directors

Would you or someone you know make a good board member for the Stone Trust?

Please send nominations to the Stone Trust Board of Directors by September 15, 2022.

We welcome your nominations to the Stone Trust Board of Directors. Our board includes up to thirteen members. At present, twelve men and women help to set direction and provide oversight to our nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization. These twelve members each engage in one or more of the following committees:

  • Executive Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • Program Committee
    • Historic Preservation Working Group
    • Waller Development/Curriculum Enhancement Working Group
    • Site Expansion/Custom Workshops Working Group

Please review our board member contract here.

We are seeking two new board members for terms beginning in January 2023. Early in 2022, one board member resigned due to personal obligations. A second member will cycle off at the end of the year, having completed two consecutive three-year terms. According to our bylaws, a one-year hiatus is required.

You can view our bylaws here.

Ideally, the Stone Trust Board reflects geographical, ethnic, gender, and professional diversity. Also, to keep the art and craft of dry stone walling central to all conversations, the board maintains a minimum percentage (approximately half ) of experienced wallers and instructors.

At present, board members hail from California, Colorado, Minnesota, New England (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont), New York, and Tennessee. Eight of twelve are certified wallers. Six are experienced instructors. Three of twelve members are female. Professional diversity pertains. Ethnic diversity does not yet pertain.

The Governance Committee welcomes your nominations. Please send us the names of people you think would make good board members, along with a brief description of their background and qualifications. Resumes and cover letters also welcome.

The Stone Trust could benefit from the addition of new members with professional experience in human resources and risk management, but all nominations are welcome! Applications received are for internal discussions of the Board and Executive Director only.

Deadline to receive nominations: September 15, 2022.

Governance Committee members will follow up with nominees in October and November. We will recommend a slate of new members to the Board of Directors at our Annual Meeting in December and invite new members to join the board in January 2023.
