All passed their Level 1 Certification at the Contractors’ Intensive! (Dec. 9-13, 2019)

For years we have been asked to provide an in-depth workshop that included Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA-GB) certification in the winter, when contractors have the downtime to take such a workshop.  Thanks to the generosity of the Stoneyard in Littleton MA, who provided the indoor space and a great selection of stone, it finally happened!

8 professional land- and hardscapers spent 4 days learning from lead instructor and Master Craftsman Michael Weitzner. Days one and two participants learned and applied walling basics. Each participant built about 1/2 the area required for certification. Day three moved the wallers into high gear with a practice test, taking down and rebuilding down the wall they had just built. Learning to build quickly and efficiently is important both for the certification and to make a living professionally. On Thursday participants caught their breath with a day of stone shaping and discussions on building curves, drainage, pricing, and other topics of shared interest. Friday was test day. Testers each deconstructed and rebuilt a section of wall while DSWA-GB examiner Brian Post scored the work. With good solid test scores all around, the workshop format successfully resulted in a valuable learning experience and 8 new certified wallers!

If this workshop sounds like what you need, sign up for our next offering of this 2.60 Contractors Intensive Workshop, March 16-20, 2020.
