Our Contractors Introduction to Dry Stone Walling attracts professionals and homeowners alike. In each category, people come with a range of experience. Many of the eight men who braved the cold and snow on April 16 take weather conditions into account as a matter of course, given years of experience as hardscapers and landscapers–from two to twenty-one years. A few hardy souls came with little to no experience of dry stone walling, but everyone came from places where spring brings unpredictable weather.
The April 17 workshop group included no professional practitioners, but people with projects! The Contractors Intro creates access to the range of workshops in our Curriculum in Dry Stone. When space runs out in other intro workshops, homeowners and enthusiasts register for this one, so they know what they need to know to participate in more advanced classes. All introductory workshops teach the 5 basic rules of dry stone walling. The Contractors Intro allows instructors to focus attention on the matters of particular concern to people who earn their livelihood building with stone.
Instructors Jared Flynn and Ben Maron (April 16) and Jamie Masefield and Rob Faraone (April 17) all work as dry stone wallers. Professionals and homeowners alike expressed appreciation for the way they shared what they know. Thanks to everyone for coming to learn with the Stone Trust!
