Testing all Levels Monday Sept. 26, 2016

DSWA Certified Master Craftsmen and Examiners

Become a Certified Dry Stone Waller, or increase your level!  Dry Stone Wall Certification is a must have for the professional waller or landscaper, and fun to have for homeowner and hobbyist too.  Each test involves dismantling and rebuilding a specified section of wall in a 7 hour time limit.  Level 3 and 4 also include untimed feature builds.  Each level increases substantially in difficulty.

Becoming a certified waller will help you build better and faster.  As more and more clients become educated on the benefits of using certified wallers, it is becoming a needed credential for professionals.  Those who become Level 2 certified, can then take the instructors certification course and teach stone walling.

The Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA) is the certifying organization.  The DSWA is the first and oldest dry stone certification scheme in the world, and has become the international standard for dry stone walling.

Please remember that test space is limited.  Only register if you are confident that you will be able to attend.

Have you signed up for a Pre Test?

Preparing for your test is important to be able to pass.  Most level 1 test candidates can pass after reading Level 1 Certification and taking a workshop.  Also taking a pre-test is very helpful, particularly if you have limited experience.

Level 2 is much more difficult.  Be sure to read up on the Level 2 test, and check this blog post with tips and further resources.  Taking a test preparation workshop and at least one Pre-test is highly recommended.  The Level 2 test has about a 60% pass rate.  The vast majority of those who pass have taken at least 1 pre-test.

If you are testing at level 3 or 4 you should expect to need to do a substantial amount of preparation for these advanced professional tests

On the day of your test:

You should arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 am.  The timed test will start promptly at 8:00 am.  You should bring your own rain great, water and lunch, as well as any tools you will need.  Level 2 and up must bring their own batter frames and tools for setting them up.  Tests may be indoors or outdoors and you may be working with different types of stone.  Tests are rain or shine events.  Upon registering you will receive an email with further information about what to bring.

*Please note we are using a new online registrations system starting 11/24/15.  If you encounter errors or problems while registering please email Brian Post or call (802) 490-9607, so we can correct the problem, and improve our registration process.
