On October 10 the weather was slightly overcast and the temperature was mild for the first Women’s Introduction to Dry Stone Walling held in Pennsylvania. Three women, ranging in age from 36 to 65 arrived from Maryland to learn the five basics of dry stone construction techniques. After a brief overview, everyone experienced some quality hands-on “time at the wall.”
During lunch, we toured the farm and took time to discuss the retaining and other freestanding walls on site. After the lunch break it was back to the wall and re-assembly time. You did an outstanding job using your newly learned skills to build a very good quality wall that you can be very proud of!
A final side trip to the apple orchard for a few apples ripened on the tree topped off the day.
We hope you all experienced a memorable time!
