Martin Beevers

MARTIN BEEVERS (TENNESSEE) grew up in Derbyshire, England in the heart of a countryside crisscrossed by miles of dry stone walls. These ancient walls are still very much a working part of rural life and tradition. A fascination with them grew at an early age but it was only in his late thirties that the interest led him to pursue it as a career, ultimately gaining Level Two Intermediate certification with the DSWA Derbyshire Branch. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in the United States when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee in January of 2020. He is owner/operator of Old England Rock Walls and a certified instructor at the Stone Trust and is currently establishing his own Training Site in the Kingston Springs area of Nashville.

Whenever your building a wall, sooner or later it must come to an end. A cheek end is the typical way to end a wall. It is also called a wall end, wall head, or square end. Cheek ends are a particular challenge to build well and structurally are the most vulnerable part of a wall, so it is important to get it right.
