An Education in Dry Stone at the Stone Trust, PA

The Stone Trust, PA held a 2-day introductory workshop and a cheek rebuild workshop to close out the month of April. With two smaller groups, each participant received personalized instruction and a lot of hands-on experience. All of you came from the mid-Atlantic, mostly from within the state of Pennsylvania. Isn’t it great that the Stone Trust PA offers workshops at a local site, with a barn to keep you dry from the rainy weather.

Three out of the four introductory participants earned continuing education credits through the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES). Increasingly, professionals with training in designing the built environment seek to add dry stone masonry to their expertise.  To find out mores about LACES credits, click here. All of the other participants in the intro and cheek rebuild workshops also intend to continue their education through the Stone Trust.

A few of you mentioned being interested in learning more about retaining walls, stone shaping, steps and stairs, and patio work. Fortunately, you can learn all of these aspects of stonework at a medley weekends. Consider coming to the Stone Trust NH for one of the two remaining medleys this year, July 6-9 and Oct 19-22. Thank you to Kim and Jerry Coggin for sharing their time and expertise. Your site continues to welcome eager participants from the area who keep coming back for more.
