Improving Skills at the First Minnesota Workshops of the Season

To start off the summer and the 2024 workshop season in Minnesota, the Stone Trust MN had great weather for a 2-Day Introduction to Dry Stone Walling and a Cheek Rebuild Workshop. Five wallers came to the introductory workshop from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from those who work and teach in the industry to those who work in software engineering to those who are enthusiasts. These five wallers came from Minnesota, Iowa, and even California to learn the five basic rules of dry stone walling.

Four returning participants took the Cheek Rebuild workshop. Site champion and instructor, Dan Peterson, said, “I find it assuring to see their skills improve with each event they attend. I look forward to seeing them progress and take their Level 2 Certification test in the near future.”

Thanks to all of you who came out to learn new skills or advance on old ones. It is exciting for the Stone Trust to see new and returning faces keeping the tradition of dry stone walling alive.

Thank you to Dan Peterson for your incredible hard work and generosity in continuing to run the Stone Trust MN as site champion and for sharing your skills as an instructor. The Stone Trust and Dan would also like to thank Chris Gagnon and the staff at Northland Landscape Nursery for continuing to support the Stone Trust. A special thank you to Michael Murphy for traveling from Michigan to co-teach and share your years of experience.
