Words from site champion and instructor, Dan Peterson:
We had a great weekend here at The Stone Trust Minnesota for the 2-Day Intro and Cheek Rebuild workshops. Normally, the weather for the June workshop is a combination of excessive heat and scattered rain, but this June, the weather cooperated; the days were dry and in the 70’s. We had 11 participants for the 2-Day Intro workshop and 3 participants for the Cheek Rebuild workshop. Everyone did great, and the hands-on workshop working with the stone allowed everyone to successfully finish a structure while also learning when difficulties arise when building with glacial boulders.
Special thanks to Sara Mix and the staff at Northland Landscape Supply and Nursery for continuing to support The Stone Trust with the site location. Thank you to Michael Murphy for traveling here again from Michigan to aid in teaching the workshop. I look forward to the Stone Shaping workshop scheduled here on July 11.
