So great to have ten of you turn out for the 2-Day Introduction to Dry Stone Walling at the Stone Trust PA! You make it clear that people in the Mid-Atlantic states appreciate a training site close to home. All but two of you came from Pennsylvania, and one from Virginia, and one from New York. Thank you for affirming your desire to learn the art and craft of dry stone walling closer to home.
It looks like you learned what you came for, a good foundation in the fundamental principles of building a dry stone wall that will stand the test of time. Some of you got a bit of stone shaping experience, too.
Here are a couple of videos to reinforce and extend what you learned from Kim and Jerry about how to ensure your projects stand against the forces of time, friction and gravity:
Setting up Batter Boards
Your New Best Friend: Batter Boards
An intro workshop provides exposure that you may want to reinforce as you pursue the projects you have in mind.
The Stone Trust does send a reminder email a week or two before the workshop. If you did not receive one, please check your promotions and spam folders. We do want everyone to feel welcomed and prepared!
Also, if you are interested in participating in a community of people who share your interests, please accept the invitation to join the Friends of the Stone Trust PA.
Thanks very much to Kim and Jerry Coggin for the warm, knowledgeable, professional way they share their expertise. And thanks again to all of you for coming to learn at the Stone Trust PA! Do come back in 2023. You’ll find the full schedule from our Curriculum in Dry Stone published on November 1.
