Waller of the month: Jared Grant

JARED GRANT (Maine) began building stone walls in 2000, and now owns and operates Shangri-La Stoneworks. The majority of his work is dry stone construction, including garden settings, outdoor living spaces, walls, and flatwork. The rocky coast of Maine lends an abundance of quality stone for his projects. Jared holds DSWA-GB Level II Certification and is a certified instructor.

The image above is a sitting wall located at the entrance to Belfast, Maine city park and commons and was built with a mix of granite fieldstone and granite tailings from a local quarry. Hand split slabs comprise the bench portion and vertical copes were used to top it off. Project was built in the summer of 2017 with the help of Jared’s father, James Grant.
