Retaining Walls – In the eyes of a past workshop participant

Judy Rand DSWA-GB Certified Level II Waller and Instructor sent in two photos and the following paragraph.  Taking a workshop really does change the way you see the world around you.

“This failing cement retaining wall is on my walking route to town.    Each time I walk by I think about how it was not that long ago I would have thought this to be a normal retaining wall.  But I now know a lot about retaining walls and how to build them to last (not with cement)! My wall building journey began with the chance introduction to The Stone Trust in Dummerston, VT.  The second photo is a double face dry stone retaining wall I built after taking workshops at The Stone Trust.  Learning about and appreciating the centuries old craft of dry stone walling has been a fascinating process – an awakening – and a delightful ongoing journey.”
