Knowing everyone loves arches, these 7 participants took their skill to the next level and learned the fundamentals of dry stone arch building. Enjoying blue skies and working with real stone of varying types they built 3 roman (semi-circular) arches in just one day. In the morning we discussed arches and each participant practiced by working with several small pebble arches to get the feel for it before moving to the full size ones.
The one day format enabled a concentrated learning environment, and showed how arches can be strong even without a high degree of fit and finish.
It was great fun and highly rewarding!
