Starting at the beginning and testing your level of mastery–August and September

Most people who come to learn with the Stone Trust demonstrate a level of inquisitiveness and some drive. Many have taught themselves a bit by building or rebuilding stone walls on their own property. Others have studied books and videos. Still others of you must figure that the quickest route to learning what you want to know is to come and get first-hand experience from waller-teachers who share their expertise. Whatever your background and your reasons, an Introduction to Dry Stone Walling Workshop is the place to start. In these workshops, you learn and practice the five basic rules of dry stone walling that constitute the foundation for your future learning.

Some of you will go home from there with everything you want to know. Others will begin to ponder next steps, including the certification pathway. About twenty-five people are currently registered to take fall certification test, nine for DSWA Level 1 Initial certification, fourteen for Level 2 Professional, and three for Level 3 Advanced. If you are thinking about taking a certification test this fall, do also consider attending a Test Prep workshop on August 21 or September 11. Taking this workshop will not guarantee you will pass you test, but our history shows that people who take a test prep workshop do have a dramatically better chance of passing.
