Shaping stone is an important skill that comes in handy in many walling situations. During this workshop, 5 participants received first-hand experience with various techniques for shaping stone. With patience and persistence, they split large stone in a few different ways and then practiced chisel and hammer techniques for refined shaping. The shaped stones, voussiers and springers (angled blocks which support the arch on each side), will be used to build the arched bridge during the Bridge Building Workshop on September 8th and 9th. You can register for that workshop HERE.
This Bridge Stone Shaping workshop was taught by certified instructors Michael Murphy and Pete Ryder.
