Andras Lazar and Pete Ryder are in the process of shoring up the retaining wall so the project can be put to bed for the winter. The finished wall will rise to approximately 5 ft at the corner and run 40 ft to a rise of about 7 ft at the end. For now, the wallers will build to the height that will hold the soil in place till spring.
The retaining wall protects the grange from the water flow that jeopardized its sills.
The project has created a lot of opportunity for less experienced wallers to gain time on the wall with professional wallers, Andras and Pete. Time on the wall is the best way to build your skills. It’s also really fun!
