Landscape firms increasingly seek qualified hardscape professionals who can knowledgeably and skillfully build stonework of lasting function and beauty. Ted Carter Inspired Landscapes decided to ensure their crew embodies that know-how. During the last week of March, they brought the Stone Trust’s five-day Contractors Intensive to their business in Buxton, Maine.
Level 2-Certified Waller-Instructors Pete Ryder and Dan Morales-Walsh guided the crew in learning and applying the five basic principles of dry stone walling, put them through a practice test, worked with them on stone shaping techniques, and provided them with encouragement and support on test day April 1. Master Craftsman-Examiner Chris Tanguay evaluated the candidates’ test stints.
Results? All five members of the hardscape crew passed! Five newly certified Level 1 Initial Wallers ready for the 2022 building season:
