Certification Test Overview:
At the Stone Trust you can acquire Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA-GB) Level 2 Certification. In the past, wallers who have passed this test earned Intermediate Waller Certification. Now when you pass the 3.90 Level 2 Certification test you become a DSWA Level-2 certified waller.
The second of four levels of certification offered by the DSWA-GB, Level 2 stands as the globally recognized professional. DSWA-GB certification is the oldest and best administered certification for dry stone wallers. The credentials are recognized throughout the world.
As a matter of Stone Trust policy, you must have earned a Level I certificate before you apply to take a Level 2 test. In addition, participants must be respectful of other examinees, the examiners, and the test site. You are expected to work safely and to avoid distracting others. Be sure to read the policies for participation in Stone Trust events.
During a Level 2 test, each candidate will strip down and rebuild a section of wall totaling 27 square feet which incorporates a square wall end, also known as a cheek end. Twenty-seven square feet equates roughly to a wall 4 feet 6 inches tall and 6 feet long. While the square footage is measured on one face, the test candidate strips out and rebuilds the cheek end along both adjacent faces. Your finished test stint must measure at least 42 inches high. You must complete the rebuild within a period of seven hours. If you do not finish, you do not pass.
